Hey all,

Today i just found out that my university does not include the university's equivalent courses that I received AP credit for (no clue why not). However, in our student account website of our school I am able to access the unofficial transcript, which contains the scores I received for each AP test and the specific university level course that I got the credit for.

Should I mail my unofficial transcript to aadsas??
Should I have college board mail aadsas my ap scores to aadsas?

This is only a big deal to me because the courses I received credits for through ap, are prerequisites for some of the dental schools I am applying to (english and psychology).

Is the worst case scenario me having to take english and psych just so that it can show up on my official transcripts? This seems quite unreasonable...

Im not sure what to do or how to go about this...

Any input and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Most dental schools do not accept AP credits...so there's that....

That is not true. Good amount of schools will accept the credits if mentioned on the official transcript of 4 year university. Same goes for CC credits. However, you must have taken higher level course in some schools.

What you can do is you can go to your registrar office and ask them specifically to release your AP credits and hours, course title, etc. AADSAS won't accept the unofficial transcripts. I actually filled out a special form today for them to release the accepted credits from IB to send it to AADSAS.

Okay cool thanks! Do you know what the name of the form was by any chance?

Ive been going back and forth with the registrar in a series of emails and they haven't told me about that option for the form...so I'm not sure my school allows it....

This is so frustrating! Arghh

Each college probably has their own form with it's own name. Stop emailing and call the registrar or go see her in person. Also, did you actually get credit for the AP classes, does it show that you have 15 credits or whatever, elevating your class standing by a semester or however many credits you have or did you just not have to take those classes and it isn't showing actual credits assigned? Each school has their own procedure for this and not all of them actually award credit, but they allow you to "test out" of the corresponding class.

I brought in 27 AP credits (would have been 38 if they took foreign language credits but they don't). For registration purposes, I'm technically a senior, but I just finished my sophomore year (2nd year).

I agree with this. You should go see them in person and they will explain these stuff to you. The credits should be accepted by your university and show the specific course title and the number.

Don't worry. Your transcript most likely will show that the pre-req classes were satisfied. Some dental schools will specifically ask you to send in your AP scores straight to the school (UCLA), or some might ask what you did to get the classes fulfilled (Columbia). I was also worried that my transcripts didn't show the AP's I took. I had 13, so most of my credits come from there. I just sent in my AADSAS normally without AP credits on my transcripts and there was no snag at all. But make sure you do have all the pre-req's fulfilled according to the dental school guidelines, i.e: actual university credits or AP credits. All the schools I applied to had no problems with AP's. If they did, I probably wouldn't satisfy half the pre-reqs.

Not all colleges give credit for AP though and that is the question here. He might not have had to take a lower level class, but that is not the same as getting credit on a transcript.

Pretty sure that was his main concern, that the transcript didn't show his pre-reqs to the dental schools. I also used AP English and Psych for pre-req, but had to send the scores straight to the dental school, per their request. So, there is really only a problem if OP did NOT satisfy the pre-req at all.
