Hello
ok - be nice please -
My question is I Have just recently got my application together. And I am not sure what to do. some people told me that even if the progarm deadline is due I should still apply . Is this even an option?
Thanks

yes...and u can contact program directors directly to see if they are receptive. your chances would probably be better if u waited until next years match and applied on time next year though

You should contact a few (dozen, hundred, ???) programs and ask if they would still consider your application. If the answer is yes, go for it.

If the answer is no, register for the Match, put in a ROL with at least one program on it (whether or not you've applied to that program), put on your Scramble pants and hope for the best.

The better question is why are you 'just' getting your app together? Its freaking January 17.

Why not just apply next year...

Forgive the ignorance but I do not understand this part. If programs will not accept the application why advice to create a ROL at all? Also, if the applicant has NOT applied to the program, why even rank that program? Isn't it a given that unless you did an away rotation which sort of counted as an interview, unless programs have met you they will NOT rank you? Am I missing something here? Will creating a list give a boost for the scramble or are you advising that the applicant create the list SO they can enter the scramble and at least have a shot this year?

In typing all that out, I think I might have answered my own questions....

It would allow him to enter the match, go unmatched, and then scramble for a spot.

It's the only way to be allowed into the scramble.

Gotcha, thanks. It was so obvious I didn't get it! 👍

You are probably SOL at this point........I would advise you wait and really get a feel for the programs and have a better choice of where you go. Its a difference of 12 months in the entire scheme of things.......not to mention you could boost your CV in the months between.

Are you a MD/PhD?

That's the most likely explanation.
