So this semester i really messed up and got a D in a class. Obviously im gonna retake it so i can replace the grade but i wanna know how this is gonna affect me. i blew the final because of personal reason, and in my other classes that semester i did well (3 As and 1 B+). im stressing out cuz i dont know where this leaves me and i only have one more semester before graduation. i have 3.4 cgpa and a 3.3 sgpa before this semester.

The severity depends on what class this is. But normally one bad grade does not kill your chances. Just keep in mind, if you're planning on applying MD, that the D will not be replaced when you apply.

EDIT: a word

If you retake, AMCAS will calculate both grades into the GPA medical schools see - grade replacement is only done by DO schools. What class was it? Unless it was a prerequisite, you're better off moving on to take other things.

It's not lethal, but you're not very competitive for MD schools right now (OK for DO though).

You will be fine in the long run if you bring that GPA up. Work on getting straight As for the rest of your college career. It can be done. I know someone who took 20+ units in the remainder of their courses and got straight As after a semester with a D and Cs. Wound up with a 3.6. It takes hard work to excel like that, though.
