Can I still submit AMCAS in time for the Nov 1 deadline?

Hope someone can help with this - I waited til I got back my MCAT score to start AMCAS, but based on my score I want to apply this cycle. So, I know I can finish my essay and the app itself, but will it still be considered for the November 1 deadline? The AAMC website has a 4-6 week processing time listed in the manual for AMCAS. I don't know what to do...I only want to apply to schools listed Nov 1 and after.

Oh, and please don't lecture me about how stupid it was to wait this long. My hindsight vision is just fine.

Best,
Captjack

There's nothing wrong with that. I was in a similar situation as yours but took the gamble of applying to a bunch of schools last month without knowing what my August score would be. Luckily, I did pretty well and it worked out.

The Nov 1 deadline that many schools have means you have to have your AMCAS application submitted online by then. You've still got two weeks. This is what I suggest you do to make things go as fast as possible:

1. Go to your school's registrar today and request that a transcript be sent to AMCAS (you can do this before you've submitted your online application.) At least start working on your application though and there is a section there called "request transcripts." It'll let you print out a page that you need to give your registrar to send with your transcript.

2. Fill out and submit your AMCAS ASAP. Make sure there aren't any mistakes though because once you've submitted, you can go back and change most of your application.

3. Start working on secondaries, especially for schools that will automatically give you one. If you can get those and your letters in during the next week or so, you're behind but not THAT behind. For example, I know lots of people that submitted their AMCAS primary mid to late July and are just now sending in their secondaries and rec letters. Even though I submitted my application mid September and took the test in August, I've basically caught up to them.

Good luck.

I'm sure it's fine as long as you submit by Nov. 1, although I'm not 100% sure. I would try to submit it by the end of this week or early next week. If you want to confirm, call AMCAS or check their website.

The Nov 1st deadline is for submitting not for verification. You'll be fine. Submit now.
