So I would add this to one of the million interview threads, but I need an answer and I need it now!!!!😉
No really, I am at the interview right now...
In the morning, would it be acceptable to bring my luggage to the interview? Do they usually have a place to keep it? Has anyone does this?

Thanks!!

I read in a book about medical school admissions that it is perfectly acceptable to bring your luggage if you're flying out right after the interview (or similar situation). The book says that medical schools are used to this situation and should be acommodating

thanks so much, That is very helpful!

bump... i have the same question 😀

Yup, it's totally fine to bring your luggage to the interview--many people will be leaving for the airport straight from the interview. Everywhere I interviewed last year had a closet/room/area for everyone to dump their coats and bags. (Of course, if you have time to go back and are so inclined, you could ask the front desk at the hotel you're staying at to keep your stuff for you even after you check out--they'll usually oblige.) Good luck on your interviews! :luck:

yes very acceptable and even encouraged. it's usually an office or closet in the admissions office so there will be people there to watch it all day.

they know we pay for this stuff out of our pockets (or parents' pockets) so charging an extra day's rent just to leave your luggage at the hotel is preposterous.

That is my question too. I tried calling the motel where I will be staying and they told me that they do not have that type of service unfortunately.

Threadstarter, how did it go bringing your luggage with you?

I just brought mine for an interview at Buffalo. The admissions people were like oh yeah, no problem. Seemed like a common occurrance. Another girl did leave her luggage with the front desk at the hotel we stayed at, but I'd rather keep it with me. So yeah, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Awesome! thanks.

People have brought luggage at both my interviews and the admissions people already had somewhere planned out for them to put their stuff. I left my stuff at the hotel, but that was only because i had several hours to catch my plane after the interview.

PS MicroBugs: I was in Buffalo on 9/6 too!

Just don't start packing during the interview while muttering under your breath "I can't wait to get out of this damn safety school..."

I brought mine to VCU, GW, and Penn State. There is always somewhere to leave it so you don't have to haul it around on tours, and they lock the door or always have someone there so you don't have to worry about anything happening to it.

Perfectly fine, I think, and expected in many cases since we are not planning on staying for much more than a day.

It's fine, they should have somewhere to put it. I specifically asked Stony Brook if they could put my suitcase somewhere when I called them to schedule my interview, and they said it was not a problem.
