I am intending on taking the MCAT in July. I do intend to study fairly intensely in the early summer months, but of course I will not be spending all day, every day doing so. What I am wondering, therefore, is: What kind of extracurricular activities might pair well with MCAT studying over the summer?

I am happy to hear any and all suggestions. Thanks!

Misc info, if it is relevant:
- I do not currently have any licenses/certifications (though I have heard that certain ones are not difficult to obtain)
- By the beginning of this summer I will have done about 70 hours of shadowing, 140 hours of clinical volunteering, 25 hours of non-clinical volunteering, three semesters of research

Your weakest point (currently) is in the non-clinical volunteering realm, so I'd focus there. Many soup kitchens are content to have you volunteer as you're available.

I think the better question is what areas of medicine or community service would you must like to explore or would allow you to have the greatest impact/satisfaction. What would yo find exciting? There are so many things that you can do and that will complement your MCAT study commitment. Just make sure you are taking on an extracurricular commitment that allows you the time you need for study..

You have enough shadowing. You need more clinical exposure and non clinical volunteering. The options are endless. Getting a certificate is helpful, but really only if you also use it. Just getting one is OK, but not great.

Another thought, if you are studying for the MCAT, do something that is more active/impactful on others than studying for a certificate.
