I was curious, so I ran a background check on myself through Certiphi. Nothing came up (I was expecting my 2 prior speeding tickets). Can I use this for submission to medical schools when they request it? Or will I have to pay another fee for another background check? I ask since I know medical schools will ask for this beginning in January, which is not very far away.

They will do their own. While you may have to give a credit card for a "deposit", it probably won't be charged or used (from my experience).

Thank you for a swift response.

And this may be an obvious question with an obvious answer - but will it basically be identical to the self-check?

As far as I know, yes. They should tell you what databases are accessed. The one conducted for matriculants is usually a little more comprehensive that includes international databases.
