Do most of you re-use the "why us" essay for different schools. i mean besides adding certain things in about the location or maybe if they are more research focused, do you pretty much re-use the same essay? Is this frowned upon and is there ANY way of the schools finding out about this?

Go on their website and change a few sentences that are more specific to their school and area. My friend basically used the same one essay. Personally, I'm kinda of a scared-y for these kinda things but she got in just fine.

if they did find out, it would be looked at unfavorably, i would imagine. but since they have no real way of finding out, you'll be ok.

these are actually the easiest essays to write, because all you really have to do is go onto their website and find some things that you might be interested in. For examples, most schools list outreach programs, research opportunities, and student organizations. if you incorporate these specifics into the essay, it would help to show your interest more than just mere generalities about the location etc.

I don't actually like that idea. Most applicants will be doing the same thing and you don't want to send an essay that looks like essays from many of the people applying.

I wouldn't use the "why us" essays for multiple schools. I have applied to some schools that have similar programs to each other, so obviously I want to attend them for similar reasons, but I have found it easier to write each one from scratch, but thats just me.

However, I don't see a problem with recycling some of the diversity, challenge, ethical essays. Except for word count a lot of schools are asking for the same essay.
