This may be a dumb question:

I took a professor for gen chem 2, told him I was interested in his research. I did research for him for ~1.5 years. If I ask for a letter, can it be used to fulfill one of my science LoRs? He's also a member of the committee of medicine and I feel dumb asking him to write a letter to himself. Would this be okay?

Just make sure that your schools don't specify that your science letters must come from professors who have taught you in a course.

Is OP essentially asking if it's ok if he uses a LoR from a professor who taught him in a science course AND did research with as one of his science LoR's? Or am I missing something?

I think he's saying the Prof is on the Pre-med committee that will write his letter.. As far as I know that shouldn't be an issue.
