Sorry if this is a stupid questions, but I keep hearing about PAs working longer hours and doing more of the undesired work than the doctors that they work with or under. Is this all in a private practice setting, where the doctors hire PAs to help them out? Or does this happen generally everywhere in hospitals/clinics where doctors arent in private practice or anything?

pa's can be assigned to do scut in almost any setting.
the trick is to find a job where the docs share it with you where you will be a partner/colleague, not just a scut magnet. I work at 5 facilities; 4 treat me very well and 1 scuts me out a bit but pays me ridiculous amts of money so I put up with it.
