Can med schools ask what other schools you've applied to?

I have heard different things about this, I thought they could not ask. I have two interviews coming up and would like to be prepared in case they do. Thanks!

I have been asked this during an interview, so yes.

I don't think they can compel you to answer, but they can ask. I remember that UNECOM for example explicitly asks you in their secondary to list all other med schools you're applying to.

I was asked at all of my DO interviews what schools I was applying to. That may have been bc my stats were well above the DO average or maybe bc it's common to ask, I don't know

I gave a generalized "I'm applying to a broad range of DO and MD schools bc I know how competitive the process is and am committed to becoming a physician. I'm here today bc I'm very excited about this program and it's at the top of my list." I wasn't pressed further than that.

Damn that answer is smooth if they don't pressure you for a number or list. 🙂

this is not med schools but one school asked me exactly same question. I said 'Yes I applied 7 more schools however this is my top choice because of blah blah blah'.. well, I got accepted lol must be a reasonable answer.
