Can non-official things count as EC's?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I believe that my question is moreso two parts. The first is if it counts (what I initially asked).

The second is if it matters. A lot of my pre-med friend are in internships with these fancy research labs and these fancy hospitals so would it be considered not-as-valuable to take on a more entrepreneurial aspect for some of my major EC's?

I think starting your own t-shirt business would be an interesting thing to talk about with interviewers. Obviously I don't know the details, but from what you have provided, it certainly seems like a worthy item to put on your application.

So any long term activity that requires commitment and can connect to medicine can be an EC?

That's correct. In fact, any long term, committed activity that does not connect to medicine can also be counted as EC.

For ex, varsity athletics, dancing, photography, etc... are all valid activities to include on your AMCAS.

Look. This has been answered for you over and over in all your threads about ECs when you ask "Can I do this? How will med schools feel about that?" The problem is you're throwing a million darts out there and trying to make one stick. First you say you want to do a club sport, then be captain of a club sport, then you want to do a youtube channel, and now sell tee-shirts...

How about finding something that you just really want to do and sticking with it throughout college, take on a leadership role in that activity, without second guessing everything? It doesn't have to be medically related; just show commitment and genuine interest, and that will come through on your application. In the meantime, you're a freshman so focus on school, get some clinical/nonclinical volunteering in, and start thinking about doing some kind of research this coming summer or next year. You'll find you'll have a much more enjoyable college experience if you quit being so focused on what Adcoms will think and just do stuff for yourself because you sincerely enjoy it.
