I took the PCAT back in January, but didn't do very well at all... (got around a 57 composite). I was wondering, for schools that DON'T require the PCAT, can having a bad score hurt your chances for admission, or do schools not even look at your score? Thanks.

If they don't require it, I don't see how they would even know.

I dont get it ? IF you plan on applying to school that does NOT require PCAT, (esp. you did not do well), "why in the world would you wants to show them your score ? "

I'm planning on applying to both schools that do require the PCAT and schools that don't require the PCAT. I have to enter the scores in on PharmCAS once the app comes out- I'm just not sure if the schools that don't require the PCAT will be able to see my scores.

Yes, they bite.

No, seriously, I guess if they don't use the test it's because they don't believe in it, so it shouldn't hurt.

In your case, 57 composite score is hurting your application.

I recommend anyone to hold off on applying to pharmacy schools if your GPA is lower than 3.0 and/or composite PCAT is lower than 70s.

This is simply because you will be competing with applicants with average stats of 3.0 - 3.3 GPA and/or PCAT 80+ scores

You should study hard and retake your PCAT. score high (especially on quantitative, biology, chemistry sections)

Good luck!🙂

With a pcat composite of 57, I'll certainly retake but I think if you have a good gpa you can still be competitive. You have to realize that they don't only look at gpa and pcat. Have you done anything to explore your interest in the field ? and the list goes on.
