may 15 and june 1 both seem to be critical dates. i was always under the impression that may 15 was the last date you could have more than one acceptance. so whats the significance of june 1?
It seems that June 1st is the REAL last day to hold more than one acceptance.merkon said:may 15 and june 1 both seem to be critical dates. i was always under the impression that may 15 was the last date you could have more than one acceptance. so whats the significance of june 1?

I was in a predicament on/before the 15th because my first choice school, UIC, didn't give me the campus I wanted, so I had to petition for a transfer. The transfer is not a guarantee so I waited until the bitter end before rejecting the other schools I had been accepted to. Just after the 15th I received a letter from UIC saying that I still was holding acceptances at other schools (I wasn't, it is just that their administration is about 1 week behind the rest of the world) and if I didn't drop them by June 1st I could lose my spot in the incomming class. That is why I said June 1st is the real last day.patzan said:http://www.aamc.org/students/applying/policies/recommendations.htm
These are the AMCAS traffic rules. The date for letting go of multiple acceptances is May 15th, not June 1st.
By May 15 of the year of matriculation, an applicant who has received offers of admission from more than one school should choose the one school that he or she prefers and withdraw from all other schools to which he or she has been accepted.
Subsequent to June 1, a school of medicine seeking to admit an applicant already known to be accepted by another school for that entering class should advise that school of its intent. Because of the administrative problems involved in filling a place vacated just prior to the commencement of the academic year, schools should communicate fully with each other with respect to anticipated late roster changes in order to keep misunderstandings at a minimum.
