Leaving U of R MD/Phd. to become DPM

I shoulda followed my heart 4 years ago am now consdering leaving MD/Phd. program to become a DPM. Somebody ever done this? Friends are all DPM's, was pressured to do MD/Phd becos dad was CMO in hospital. Ha s anyone else been in the same boat.​

seriously gstrub I keep telling people this but they think I'm burned out with the MD/PHD work. But it's not that I just enjoy podiatric medicine. Before I got in to my program I worked at a DPM's office. Have you ever been around those guys? What year are you? How far into your program are you?​

How far are you into your program? If you are almost done, I say that you should stick it out and go for ortho and specialize in the foot and ankle (if that is what you like). If you are burnt out, remember, you can get burnt out as a podiatrist too (trust me, I think we have all met our fair share of disgruntled pods). At best, if you transfer to a pod school, you will have to start at year 2 and finish the four years (if they transfer your 1st year). It may be a lot of extra time and money (I am not sure if that matters or not). Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
