you should def. try to get that gpa above 3.0; it is extremely difficult to get accepted below a 3.0; the good news is u've got 'bout 2.5 yrs to get on track.

g'luck

Every applicant will have a similar laundry list of activities that you have posted BUT it's no replacement for your deficient GPA. Cut out all your extracurricular activites and concentrate only on boosting your GPA and DAT score. Dental school is tough and if you're having a hard time now, be prepare for disappointment in the application process and/or dental school. Your 'minority' status will allow for easier admission standard but you still must prove, to yourself foremost, that you can handle it academically. Have you taken upper-division organic chem or physiology? If you can't manage a "B" in either one, it's probably time to call it over.

I agree with the above posts that you should eliminate the extracurriculars as long as your grades are suffering. I started out with a similar GPA and brought it up in the last 2-3 years with focusing solely on GPA/DAT. Its not to late but if you can't start nailing some of your classes (think high 3s GPA) than its going to be very tough to get considered seriously for dent school. Also study very hard for the DAT, killing the DAT can overcome an average GPA. Good luck
