What is the difference between a transitional year vs a prelim year and i dont also understand how it works with EM? Can you get accepted to a trans or prelim but not to EM? Thanks

Hey.. so here is the deal.. You can rank your main programs (say Rads) first then you do a secondary match list. So if you want to stay in chicago your top choice will be a rads program in chicago, then your trans/prelim list will be all chicago programs, then lets say your #2 is LA then all your TYT/prelims can all be LA programs. Then depending on where you match that list will be used to get yuo a TY/prelim spot. Hope this helps.

You wont match into the prelim only unless you rank as such. Only about 15 programs have this requirement.

It is only necessary for these programs
