So once u have a license (i.e. surg, medicine, peds, etc) and u know what ur eyeglass prescription is, are u able to write urself a script for contacts, for example?

Do you know how to measure yourself for contacts?

As long as you are a licensed physician you can write scripts for glasses or contacts - you do not have to be an ophthalmologist. It is easiest to do if you know your previous Rx and your vision hasn't changed.

As an aside, I think that you should definitely have someone else write them for you, as the heavy "u"-osis that you demonstrate show your vision to be suffering (as mine is after looking at your post).

Dude, that is so funny!

Why not just go to a really excellent eye center, like attached to your hospital and get your eyes measured and taken care of properly? It is totally worth the $$ to see an ophtho or academic optometrist who can measure your eyes properly and kit you out properly. I finally did this after receiving three different prescriptions from three different community eye people at places like eyemasters or costco. It is so worth it.

give a doc a set of contacts and he will see for a year or so

teach a doc to measure the curvature of his own eyeballs and interpret corneal topography and he will see for a lifetime
