I want to open my own vet practice, and build on to it as I progress. My question is can I as a Vet open a Sanctuary/Rescue Rehabilitation center? I am not sure what it is actually called but I want to rescue and house animals found hurt or even just abandoned strays. I want to have a center dedicated to it. Although, I'm not sure if I can even do it. So can I do that as a Vet? Are there license that I must receive?

You mean a regular shelter? Sure.

You'll need to get some good business experience managing people, managing a non-profit, etc. Licensing probably is locale-dependent (state/county/city).

If that's your interest, start talking to shelter vets.

Thank you! This really helped! I am just really interested in expanding a vet practice and housing injured, abandoned, and sick animals. Thank you so much for your comment.
