Can we postpone interviews?

I don't know if it looks bad but I had the worst luck last year when I switched my interview date. I received an interview at Ohio St. on a specific date but I had already bought flight tickets, hotel, car, ect for another interview at Buffalo on the same day so I changed the interview at Ohio to their next available interview date. Anyway when I got to Buffalo it snowed 2 and half feet, the city shut down, and my interview was canceled at the school because they didn't have any power. I had a phone interview and needless to say I didn't get in at Buffalo. Then my interview at Ohio was on December 1st and I got stuck in the airport waiting for a blizzard to leave Chicago so I could go to Ohio. Needless to say my flight was canceled and I missed the interview at Ohio. Luckily I had already found out that day that I was accepted at Temple and I didn't have to reschedule my interview at Ohio, but I did loose like 150 bucks in hotels and car rentals. Anyway whether or not it looks bad to switch interviews I don't know, but it brought me a lot of bad luck!👍

Usually the dental schools will send you a letter or email of invite for an interview and once you contact them back you can setup an interview date. Usually the schools will give you several dates at which they have openings for interviews. I know I had to reschedual two of my interview dates with the schools but it didnt seem like a problem at all to them. I think as long as you let them know as soon as possible that you need to postpone or reschedual you interview it should not be a problem.

Can we postpone interviews if we really can't make it on that specific date? Is it a bad impression?
Thanks a lot.

Alabama (my #2 choice) offered me an interview on the same day as Case (my #1 choice). So, I asked Alabama for a different day and they said they'd get back to me. Well, they never did (I even emailed them a few times about it...).

So, if you're an out-of-stater applying to Alabama, make sure you take the first date offered to you!

You should really make it a point to make it on the date they give you. The longer you delay interviewing, the less of the chance you have at getting a spot at the school.

if it conflicts with another interview you can ask to switch to a different date. I'm sure the school will understand.

However, NEVER no show or cancel at the last min. You might as well toss that school from your list. One school told a friend of mine: "don't burn your bridges before you cross them", i thought that was kind of amusing.

Try to clump all the regional interviews within a time frame. It will be tough but at it will be cheaper and less stressful. I interviewed at UCONN, Temple and Boston within 4 days from each other. I drove around like crazy but it was a relief to finish 3 schools in a week.

I postponed one interview by a month because I was traveling. The sooner you interview the better, but if you can't make it, then schedule a different day.

Delay if you must, but as others have said before the sooner the better.
