Can you arrange AMCAS activities ?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't know the answer re. arranging activities, I am just assuming they arrange based on date. But I had another question, are folks writing up their activities CV-style (ie 3rd person), or are you writing it up from the 1st person perspective?

You can arrange them however you want before you submit AMCAS, but after you submit it, they will be rearranged.

CADreaming06, when I applied, I wrote about my activities in the first person.

I am using first person. I think CV-style would be a little impersonal

Does anyone know about rearragning the activties?

You can enter your activities in any way you want, but when you hit the print button, they rearrange in reverse chronological order (most recent on top). I am assuming this is how schools see them, too.

For activites, I listed my descriptions resume-style, but others have done first-person prose. I guess if you wanted to fill up 1300+ characters, you'd do essay style, but I kept mine short and sweet.

Do you mean, can you re-arrange the order of activities when you've already entered them? I have the same question 'cause after doing a search on the forums I realized that it might be better to enter them in order of importance rather than in chronological order. Darn I think I'm gonna have to start deleting and typing again 😡 . Also, I tried printing the activities section but it just printed a list. How can I print to show the description of what I typed....for proofreading?

Oh great...at least I don't have to retype the darn thing, whew! But how can I print so I can see the descriptions of what I typed?

it might have been in reverse chronological order for you.. but it was automatically grouped for me.. with publications being first, etc.. work experiences are grouped together based on ending date i think.. research experiences based on date.. and so on.. but the i guess publications trumped everything for me since I entered it in the middle but after submitting, it was shifted to the first entry..

Print the entire application from the main menu

those of us who applied last year know that the number of characters allowed for the activities section increased from around 300 per activity to 1300 per activity. kinda makes you think that maybe med schools wanted to know a little more about each activity, why else would they increase it so dramatically? just something to think about...
