Hey guys,

My school does have an MD/MBA program and I may apply to other "accelerated MBA programs" after 3rd year to try to squeak the MBA program in...but I am now thinking of doing the MBA in between 4th year and residency given the frantic nature of 3rd year rotations and electives (particularly away electives in the specialty I am interested in)....

What do you guys personally recommend....is there a HUGE con in doing an MBA program after 4th year and simulatenously applying for the match?

it seems to me that anything making you not-a-US-senior for the Match is going to be something that hurts you. Residencies want you fresh, from what I understand.

I'm not sure why you can't do it after 3rd year - it's not like you'd be in med and b-school at the same time... people who go and do MPH during med school usually take an LOA to go do it after 3rd year.

While it's doable, it might look bad for residency apps. After 2nd year or 3rd year would be a better alternative. If you were getting an MPH or something, that's different. Not sure an MBA as a reason for delaying residency is a good idea.

Ask mentors at your school in your desired field.
