OK, this story is not new, but I thought I'd share it with you...keep in mind that I am arab american and I wear a scarf for religious purposes.
When i attempted to take the pcat for the first time, I was a freshmen in college and just wanted to get a feel of what it was going to be like. It was June 2006. As I was ready the pcat website, I went across a line saying that hats are not allowed on test day. So I felt it would be safer to call and make sure my scarf was not considered a hat, since its for religious purposes.
so i call Harcourt assessment...
They told me I was not gonna be able to take the test since I wear it on my head, but if i wore it on my neck it would have been okay...They actually considered it as a "special accommodation" situation and I would have to fill out a special form and what not...
I couldnt believe it..so I contacted many people and was able to get a hold of the oklahoma secretary of state, Susan Savage. oh boy! did she call them and let them know she was taking legal actions if they didnt let me take the test.
and so...i did 🙂
