Unfortunately got a 212 on Step1.
Current 3rd year, california native.
Don't have any research.
Grades are pending...
Felt totally lost after receiving my Step1 score with that low of a score...
Any hope of returning to CA for residency, realistically?

Assuming that you're an AMG, it's still possible because there's a wide range of programs in CA and in peds, your step 1 score isn't the be-all for your application. You may not be as competitive for the big name programs like UCLA, CHOLA, UCSF, Stanford, UCSD, Oakland, but other programs like Loma Linda, Kaiser Permanente programs, UCSF-Fresno, Harbor-UCLA and potentially UCI/CHOC are realistic options. The best thing for you to do now is to move on from your step 1 score, do as well as you can on your rotations, do well on step 2 and get great LOR.

I ended up getting 255 on step2. Will this help for my California situation at all? Everyone keeps saying it is OH SO COMPETITIVE ... but does my step 2 change anything?
Thanks.
