can you wear chucks with scrubs?

from a fashion standpoint or a hospital policy standpoint?

I think you'd look like an idiot, but I can't think of any real reason why they wouldn't fly.

med schools at my school wear sneakers with scrubs all the time though

Chucks? What dem?

chucks are bloody freakin ace!

long live chucks!

I use to wear Van slip ons with my scrubs because they were nice and cheap. Not going to wear nice shoes with scrubs.

Sure, I think you could wear them. It might even give you a little character... like the doc that still wears a bow tie or the one that has rock memorabilia on his office wall instead of just diplomas.

I myself am a lifelong chuck lover. And say what you will about them, they'll look a lot better than those weird clunky fluorescent plastic loafers I see everywhere...

+1
I know it's not the same, but I wore black chucks for 2.5 years as a pharm tech. They left me with a little bit of identity since we have to wear the uniform.

Oh, Crocs? Well don't knock 'em 'till you've tried 'em. Sure, they are a bit strange looking, but they are hella comfortable and clean up real easy (soap and water is all you need, then dry with a towel). I think the clean up factor is the big reason why a lot of folks wear them.

But, I read something interesting lately that said a major hospital in Sweden has banned them because there were reports that the shoes built up considerable static-electric charge and when the wearer touched medical equipment, it caused malfunctions. 😱

Or, I think it was an ortho resident or attending at a Philadelphia hospital that wore a white blazer instead of a lab coat. Oh, it was interesting. There was some bling going on too. I assumed he was a doctor because he was spitting out lots of info.

When I saw the thread title I thought you were talking about chux

I am happy to see that is not the case.

haha me too. and then when i realized it was chuck taylors we were talking about, i felt like a total dork.

I wear my chucks at my clinical research position (subject contact) and as a pharm tech, but with a lab coat not scrubs. I've seen chucks + scrubs on very few people at the hospital. I think a major factor is comfort. They do not have much support, which can hurt my flat feet during a 16 hour shift.

A better question is why would you want to. Unless you are some weird emo kid who wants to rebel but really just ends up looking like all the other idiot emo kids. Seriously though those shoes are so ugly and amazingly uncomfortable.

it's just dumb to generalize every chuck wearer as emo

just wondering

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: wear all blue ones and then crip walk through the hospital!!!!!!

"This my set fooo!!!!!"
"What set you from cuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz??????"

"CRIP CRIP CRIP CRIP CRIP CRIP"

"I aint no slob...I'M A CRIP CRIP CRIP CRIP CRIP":laugh::laugh:

maybe you can get away with wearing a dicky suit with the chucks in the hosptial. chucks + scrubs = stupid looking

I volunteer in the ER and see people wearing all sorts of funny looking shoes. I would say go for it!

i just got a flashback to when spiderman turns into venom, and then he starts wearing all black and covers his forehead with his hair, representing the "transformation"..

gotta love those emo kids 😉

i think as med students you can wear what you want, for the most part. but you can't predict if certain other people might think you lack professionalism, sacrificing your credibility. plus they are super flat = not comfortable or good for your feet.

i see people wearing those goofy-ass clogs with scrubs all the time. what's up with those??? i hear they're really comfortable, but i think i'd rather not look like i went straight from gardening to the hospital...

why not?

go for it

i've worn mine w/scrubs, but they don't last a long time w/o my feet getting sore. doc martens are much comfier.

also, you can get some pretty kick ass scrubs if you want. no need to lose your individuality.

whatever, chucks go with EVERYTHING.

I wore Chucks with scrubs in gross lab last year. I say go for it.

I am a big guy and figured I would look like a huge dork with crocs on with scrubs.

My wife bought me a pair and said just wear them around one day and see what you think. Now you won't catch me in anything else, who cares how you look when you are that comfortable!

Dude, I've worn my chucks with scrubs before, it's not a big deal. I don't do it that often though, because it's not comfortable, especially when you're walking non stop.
