Can your accepted school see where you are waitlisted?

My friend has accepted the offer at one school and declined other acceptances as it has passed the deadline. They are currently on the waitlist for a few other schools though that they are very interested in. The accepted school however just emailed them that they should withdraw from any school they are waitlisted at. Is that legal or normal? Is the school able to see the other schools that they are WL at?

My friend obviously wants to see how the WL play out, what can they do?

We never see where you are waitlisted. They cannot ask you to withdraw from waitlists. Report them to the AAMC.
