I recently heard via the Washington Osteopathic Medical Association that the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario submitted a paper to the Canadian Prime Minister about alleviating the physician shortage in the country. Apparently, one of the items discussed was the proposal that Canada recognize the USMLE and/or the COMLEX as equivalents to the MCCQE. Has anybody ever heard if this has been proposed in the past? I can't see why not (especially with all the physician shortages and the acceptance of many foreign med grads who don't speak English well). Any ideas of how this might be received or what the future is for Canada to accept these exams?
