are u currentlly studin in some canadian dent school i wud luv to knw ur firsthand experience for gettin admission

No, unfortunately, I'm not studying at a Canadian school yet, as I haven't been able to get a competitive score. But there are a few that are currently studying at some of the Canadian schools. If you look for some threads on the Canadian schools, even in this one, you'll find some info. on that, otherwise, hopefully, the ones who are studying will post something to help you out with the first hand experience of getting admission. Good luck.

hi farah
what do u mean worked as an observer?..?

hey inquest,
i think an observer just looks at what the dentist does and does not intervene. therefore, they get to look at the equipment and materials that might be different from your home country.
farah may wnat to elaborate on this.. but this is what i gathered from one being an "observer". this is the case in canada, as one cannot work as an assistant here without haveing gone through a course in assisting or being certified to take radiographs, although you are an internation dentist.
hope this helps.
regards...

hey docs
like there r specific coaching centres for entrance exam prep for say the US exam(like kaplan) or the UK exam(there r certain centers in india)etc....ARE NT THERE ANY FOR THE CANADIAN EE..???they all hav past yr papers too for prep....is nt prep for EE organised...?help!

hi
u seem to be online..ya i understand observership means to be able to see the dental procedures..but since it was written worked as an observer...so i was wondering....anyway...what r u doing ..?

and
you can work as DA in canada...many dentist s will allow u ...and u might just need a certificate like the harps in ontario to show....

hi
like u mentioned in a previous post..that we can get employment in dental hygiene schools..what kind of positions r those??
thanks

:luck: hi guys
after reading few posts here, i would like to add a f ew points from my side.
i know few people in ont working in dental hygiene schools as an instructor.and for canadian schools observership is not mandatory but if u have some experience of that kinds, that will make u'r application a little impressive.and the score of the exam is exact %age u achieve and one can repeat the exam any no. of times. i promised to email the released papers to few of u.but i'm sorry ab that.i no longer have them.these questions used to be available on ndeb's website, but i believe they no longer have it.i'll try to find it for u guys.
good luck
gag

Hey gag..jus out of curiousity, do u know how much the instructors at dental hygiene schools r paid?
And wat abt research assts..do u know anyone who is doing that?
Thanks!

🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 hi
i know someone who did it last year but he is alreday into some school now. i don't know the exact figures, but as far as i know its not lot u can make in this kind of job and its avey demanding job. i guess if someone needs to prepare for ee, its not agr8 idea to go for it as its very time consuming, but if its just the clinicals that need to be prepared for, one can manage to have that much time.

Hi Inquest,
On 13th May when I was waiting at UoT to appear for the Eligibility Exam ( EE ) , some one gave a pamplet which contained some information regarding coaching for the EE ... I suppose this is the first time someone is starting such a course...as per the pamplet, they said that there would be an information session on 24th May and those who were interested to join could call them ... I am giving you the details as per the pamplet... try your luck ....
Call Catherine at 905-780-9023

I have a question if anyone can help with the answer....
At what age can you tell for sure that a child does not have a 2nd premolar:
2, 4, 6, 8, 10

The 2nd premolar starts to calcifie at 28 months...(around 2 1/2 years) and the crown is completed at 7 1/2....

My doubt is...which one do you consider???? I think it's 8 but I am not sure....if anyone could help...

thanks

The ACFD people who set the questions for the EE are undependable.. Even though they mention in their website that the morning session of the EE consists of Pre Clinical subjects and afternoon session will be of clinical subjects , but in reality it is a different story altogether... in the EE this May , there were hardly any questions in basic sciences in the morning paper and it was full of O.Path... in the after noon session it was a mix of prostho , ortho and other clinical stuff.... I heard from someone at the exam centre that when they took the EE in Sept last year, it was full of Bio Chemsitry and Pharmacology....
I surely think that this is not the way to conduct an exam... when they mention that paper -1 is preclinical and paper-2 is clinical , they should stick to what they say and they should divide the 150 questions in each paper equally amongst all the subjects... its not fair to just give bulk of the questions in just one or two subjects...
In contrast , if you write the US National Board part-1 exam it is a very structured and good exam... in the morning session which is of 210 min , they give 100 questions in Anatomic Sciences and another 100 questions in Bio Chemistry and Physiology... in the after noon session it is 100 questions in Microbiology and Pathology and 100 questions in Dental Anatomy and Occlusion....

As far as I know , in Canada, only the University of Western Ontario has a requirement that we should get our credentials evaluated by WES .... I dont know about the others ... please verify...

👍 Good Luck

[hi
i would like to add little bit more info to it:
dalhousie is 9 seats
western ontario.......15
and few more things ab clinical eaxm of toronto and halifax[dal]
for toronto, its pass or fail.they don'nt have any scale to grade u'r preps.but i wonder people still fail that exam.i guess they have some hidden criterias to pass`or fail a candidate in psychomotor skills.

about dal,u won't get an interview call with a low ee score.i know fewcandidates with 90 and above who came to dal for interview and did'nt get into and there are people with 84% or lower in dal this time bec is not only u'r high score that will get u into dal.its a combination of factors required to be there:

any academic achievments like some medals ,distinctions etc

u'r clinical skills bec after getting interview` call and thats the major factor for getting into the programme.u'll get to know ab what preps they 'll be asking in the exam along with u'r interview call.generally, its a class ii and agold crown on lower quadrants and the time u get for those preps is arround 1.5 hours.

there is an interview [just to determne u'r communication skills]and u have towrite a little essay on some genral topic eg marijuana

in case someone needs more info, u can pm me ab toronto manitoba and dal as these r the places i have been or u can serach for the thread ''canadian ee candidates must read this one.'' i tried to add fair amoun of info ab clinical prep in that thread.

and ab canadian released exams...i have few of those questions and exams and i can send it to u FOR FREE. send me u'r email id if u r intrested.
