The other Canadian thread is closed so... Just wondering if you're a Canadian citizen but did your undergrad in the US, if/how will you be treated differently from US citizens and Canadian undergrads? I'm a senior right now at Columbia, I'm taking a year off, which I also plan to do in the US, and applying for entrance in 2013. If anyone has any info about this I'd love to hear it! Thanks!

Not that this is relevant but on my backpacking trip across Australia, Asia, and Europe I met some really nice people. However, Canadians were always super snotty towards me. WHY? And why did they riot after the Stanley cuP? Why do the Canadians hate us? 🙂

As a nice Canadian, I'm not going to get into this debate again and get this thread shut down. But if someone can answer my original question, that would be greatly appreciated!

If you maintain your Canadian passport, I assume you would be a Canadian citizen. While you might have a US degree, if you're not a US citizen, how can you apply to d-schools as one? You're probably considered an International student for your UG, you just dont notice it because its private and everyone pays the same rate. So again unless you have that US passport, there's a very high chance you'll be looked at as a Canadian.

Yeah I know I'll be considered as an international applicant, but I was just wondering if they'd take into account that I studied and worked (as I hope to do during my gap year) in the US and so they'd think you're more likely to stay and practice in the US? And I dunno if they compare Canadians separately (compare the Canadians with other Canadian applicants), and if so then I assumed I'd be compared to other US applicants since I have the same education?

What i'm saying is that you could live here all your life, but if you dont have a US passport, you're still considered Canadian. Which means you'd be considered International when applying.
