After looking about for a bit, I don't really see a great interest in Canadian Medical Schools.

I hear McGill is an excellent place to study Medicine (& yes, the fact that Wilson went there is always cool!)

But my main question is, are Canadian schools recognized in the U.S.?

And my guess would be that American students would have a harder time applying as foreign students, but I might be wrong, correct me if I am!

very few Canadian schools will even consider US students. McGill is one of the only ones.

Canadian schools are LCME accredited, so should be fully recognized in the US. Canadian grads only participate in the US match in tiny numbers though. I don't know why that is.

McGill, UToronto, and McMaster are the three Canadian schools that will accept US students. They are all accredited by LCME and will be accepted. There are some nuances you'll have pay close attention to regarding taking USMLE during M2...because they're not going to be aligned to US board exams; they're going to be focused on Canadian boards during M4.

*I went through this process since I interviewed at McGill this season*

But U of T and McMaster accept internationals once in a blue moon...And the tuition at McMaster for internationals is $100 000 per year.

McGill on the other hand...they love international students more than Canadians who are not from Quebec.

/bitterness.

I agree! I'm from Ontario and find that so ridiculous because I would love to attend McGill but they offer like <10 spots for non-Quebec, Canadian residents.

It's probably because while Canadians can often get a student visa to do residency, to get a work visa for after or apply for US citizenship for a job takes a lot of money and time. I've heard that before you could go straight from a student visa with residency to a work visa for a job as a physician, and now they've changed the rules so that you have to go back to Canada for a year between student and work visas.... and who really wants to sit at home for a year between residency and working with no guarantees for anything?
