Hi Everyone!

I would really love some advice! I'm very much lost in all these entrance stresses.

I am in third year at the University of Calgary (Canada), and I would really like to get into an american optometry school WITHOUT a degree so that I can start in September. I will have all my prerequisites finished this year, I have a 3.45, and I am writing my OAT in January. (I'm hoping for a high score, my MCAT is a 34Q from last year so I really hope to keep that up for the OAT) I have been working as a pretester at an Optometrist's office for the past three years part time. Also, I am the founder and organizer of a recreational lacrosse team at my university, just so you have some background on my details.

So, first of all; am I completely crazy thinking that I can get in without a degree with the GPA I have????

Which schools are most likely to be accomodating of this? (Or, which schools are the easiest to get into in general?) Do any schools NOT take or dislike taking Canadians? Are the rumors true that american schools raise the canadian gpas for admission comparison a little bit because canadian universities are harder?

I initially wanted to get into medicine, but I'm very happy I changed my mind. Thanks for looking at this, I REALLY appreciate any opinions.

Cheers!
Janna

I know that NECO accepts a lot of Canadians and I just got in there after three years with no degree. I don't think it would hurt to apply but until you know what you get on your OAT it's hard to determine what your chances would be. Also you are applying somewhat late in the application cycle, but if you don't get in for this coming year you can always apply again in the next cycle. Good Luck!

Hey that's great to know, thanks so much! If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA?
