Okay, I'm a Canadian citizen and I'm also a permanent resident in the United States. However, I'm doing my undergrad in Canada (where we used to live). So, for the purpose of admissions, am I regarded the same as a U.S. citizen, even though I haven't attended school in the States? What about when I apply to state schools in my state of residence?

Thanks. 🙂

yes

this depends on the school. some schools like the uc's will allow you to claim instate residency while going to school out of state. however, if you are finished your degree you have to move back. for most of the schools, you'll be considered out of state.

You will be considered same as U.S. citizen. However, you won't be a resident of any state unless you tried to establish residency somewhere.

Thanks! Do you know where I can find this information? I can't find it in the MSAR...should I just call the schools?

Also, do you think I can claim residency simultaneously in a province in Canada (where my mom works and lives and my brother and I go to school) and a state in the U.S. (where my dad works and lives)? Where can I find information on this?
