Canadians-US Student visa

Does any of you, Canadians, received I-20 form from a school you've been accepted to? Do we have to request it from the school? I payed my deposit but didn't receive any forms.
To my knowledge, you receive I-20 form from your school, then you obtain F1 visa at the border? Is this correct?
I googled F1-visa and found the application form and says I need to pay $49.95 to download it but not sure if that website is legit...
wondering what you guys are doing with the visa issue...

Wait for a package from the school before you do anything. Usually you will have to pay the F1 b4 getting your I-20, but last year I paid 100$ for the F1. Once again, just wait for the school package to tell you what to do.
