I've signed a contract after the match, during scramble and am not able to honor it due to health problems of significant other. She can't move with me. What are the consequences of deciding not to go on a contract that is made after the match.

I would really appreciate your help. I don't want to have consequences on my record.

can someone please help with this? I am assuming that because it's after the match, I can decide not to go due to a legitimate reason. I need to take a year off and stay back home.

Any signed contract is legal-binding, end of discussion. Talk to your PD and honestly explain the situation and see what you can do to get out of the contract. Do this as soon as possible so the PD will have more time to find someone to replace you.

i think after the match the rules arent the same as during the match.. so during scramble, its much more flexible.. anyway i knw someone even didnt join even when they matched during the match day.. she just told her PD personal reasons (around june!) and they eventually replaced her and she didnt have any negative consequences... it was for ER too! but from what i have seen and heard a lot of people do it, and as long as its good reasons, dont have any negative conseq.. but you have to talk to the pd for sure, and be honest and usualy they will be ok, and they will almost always find a replacement,,, depending on the program/field..

good luck
