A plea to applicants who need to cancel a scheduled interview: please do so as early as possible. Most programs now have "interview days" and usually have a maximum number of applicants that they can ideally accommodate on a given day. This results in a waiting list for interview slots on some days, so an early cancellation can open up a slot on that day for another applicant. And if you do have to cancel at the last minute (illness, travel complications, weather, etc.), please notify the program so that they won't worry about your personal well-being and why you didn't appear for the interview.
