Canine IA RTX for OA knee

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I met a guy at NANS who does intra-articular pulsed ablation for knee OA. Cash procedure. I have no clue how or why that would work.

So this is basically Prialt into a dog's knee?

What is he ablating?

Because he is also injecting steroid in the joint?

No, this was separate. It was a stand alone pulsed RF that he charged like 400 bucks to do it. He said it worked occasionally but I don't see why someone would ever even think about offering that to a pt. What mechanism are you manipulating? What anatomy is being targeted?

I would rather have someone give me an intra-articular vape off a CBD pen.

Read that placebo article that lobel posted.

Maybe the injection activated the COMT pathway...

No this is supposed to destroy the TRPV1 fibers. It's basically superpotent capsaicin.

I suspect we'll be doing this in people in trials over the next 6 - 12 months if not sooner, as they are already doing trials in people intrathecally/epidurally.
