Any advice on job searching? I'm getting quite discouraged lately (been applying to everywhere I can since mid-August) as it seems there are number of openings throughout the state but each one I apply to I either never hear back or get an email that says I don't meet the minimum qualifications.

I've tried contacting the pharmacist supervisors with CVS and only heard back from one, who apologized and said his district was overstaffed. I've applied to probably hundreds of places including grocery chains, Costco, Walmart, Aetna, CVS, Walgreens, hospitals, VA, Solliant, Mayo Clinic, all throughout the state but have nothing to show for it, despite having 5 years experience as a pharmacist in my original state. Any other suggestions?

Where did you work before?

At this rate probably faster to redo school for another career and then apply in FL...
But umm I'm not sure what else you can do other than keep doing what youve been doing

I am confused, you still work for CVS and you are talking to pharm sups at CVS?

I don't really have any advice for you, other than keep applying and trying to make connections with local pharmacists.

CVS- still currently employed.

If you're still employed with CVS...cant you request a transfer to a district in FL. I'm sure there is a store out there that they need an rph for...no?

Weird! A CVS by me constantly has a different face in the pharmacy department!

Yes, I'm currently employed with CVS as a pharmacist in the Midwest and applying/emailing the pharmacist supervisors in Florida for a district to potentially transfer into. My wife is already down there staying at her parents (my in-laws) for now. I got licensed in FL mid-August and honestly wasn't expecting it to be so difficult to find a job- especially within CVS. Very frustrating to say the least, though trying to keep a positive attitude.

That's what I thought as well. I have applied for literally every FT and PT open position but have gotten virtually no responses (other than the one). My performance ratings have been fine and as far as I can tell don't have anything that would hinder me from transferring.

You need to go to the stores in areas where you want to work and get the contact info for their Sups. Even doing that, it took me a month to get a terrible offer when I relocated, so it may not be quick and you may not like what you hear.

Do you speak Spanish? In South Fl, that would really help your employability...

What? Why don't you just talk to your DM? I find this really weird. I had a few co-workers at walgreens that had to relocate and all they had to do was talk to their DM...who talked to the other DMs in the other state. I mean the whole process took a couple months but it was done.

Each time I apply for an internal position, my pharmacist supervisor gets notified along with the pharmacist supervisor that has the position opening, who receives the contact information of my current supervisor.

I honestly don't know why its taking so long either, apart from the positions might have been opened for candidates that they already had in mind (i.e. internal promotion or new grads) or any impact the hurricane might have had in things.

8 million pharmacy schools in Florida, and lots of new Rph with absurd debt that will accept anything 🙁
