I'm wondering how new grads in Washington state are doing with the job market. I am having a really difficult time trying to find a job! My previous intern job didn't any pharmacist positions available so I was left trying to find a new job with a new company. Anybody have any suggestions or know of any places hiring part time floats in the South Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area? I feel like i've applied to every retail job I could in the area and contacted a few DM's for a few companies but haven't heard back from anyone. CVS is the closest I had my hopes up but I didn't do well on the virtual job tryout. I'd appreciate any feedback or any contacts anybody would have!

Longview, WA has a ton of open spots. Also on the Long Beach Peninsula, they are having trouble finding pharmacists.

Thanks everyone! I’ve definitley branched out about an 1.5 hour radius from where I am. Just waiting on a response. My problem is that I absolutely cannot afford to move right now, so anything further than that is really pushing it. It sucks cause central Washington seems to have a few positions open but definitley cannot make the move.

Moving is expensive but having no job is more expensive in the long term. I'd apply and see what they say. It's a big if, but if you get the job out of the area you may be able to work it out via credit cards, or perhaps relocation expenses or family or something

LOL

They are going to pay you $120,000+ to move out to the middle (or east) Washington. And you cannot "afford" it?

Just be honest. You don't want to leave Seattle. That's fine. Just be honest.

I had $50 in my bank acct when I was offered my first job out of school 3 hours away from my parents. My wife and I pretty much lived off a CC until my first couple pay checks. It was rough for a couple months, but we made it. Tough it out until you get some experience and then try moving back.

I drove an hour each way in ****ty Michigan Lakeshore winter weather for a year working in the ghetto for a year. Showed the company how valuable of a pharmacist I was and they moved me back to the town I lived in when an opening opened up. Make some sacrifices, get some experience, show them you're a valuable asset and they will take care of you eventually.

It sounds like OP is living for free with his parents and doesn't have the money for rent or a deposit. In that situation, it doesn't make sense to move until a job is secured.

I don't think anybody disagrees that a move shouldn't happen until a job is secured, but widening the search couldn't hurt.

When I got my current job, I was unemployed for a year, living in a trailer, and figured out a way to move 5 hours away in 3 days.

Unless a compelling reason exists, like, say, medical care that is only available in major city, I'd suggest OP just swallow their pride and look East.

if theres a will theres a way, BS reasons like "cant afford to move" are just things you made up yourself to justify not looking for jobs out side of your desired area.
I got a job in 3 days when I told a recruiter that I was willing to relocate to anywhere where theres a full time opening. took out lots of expenses to find a new place to stay but with a pharmacist salary it was easily paid back.

I as well as a few other Floridians I’ve met here packed up our things and moved 2352 miles away. I relocated in 2.5 days.

I myself moved exactly 2,070 miles away from my home state for my job as well.

I worked in Washington state. All the jobs I got were word of mouth/introductions. I think they kind of go off the buddy system in the Seattle area (which is where I worked). You don't have any former classmates, etc that can vouch for you? Maybe shoot a post on FB for you saying you're looking?

Last time I checked the land size of Washington is 71,362 mi^2 not 5,872.35 (Seattle MSA)

This isn't very helpful.

That’s nothing. I moved 20,000 Miles in 1 day for my job!

Nah, I just moved 1.5 hours away. I feel like I did it in one day but maybe there is some other way of figuring out how long it took to move?

I have worked three full-time pharmacist jobs and I have moved across the country three times. Frankly, it's getting old.

Wrong job posting...

I got a friend working in BFE, wife got cancer and he has to do the trip once a week or twice a week to San Diego for treatment making 2h drive.

Company just hired new grads 7 part time float, they gonna float forever 1-2 days/week until someone quit lmao...

Kids these days...back in my day...I had to hand write labels and lick them to the vials so they'd stick. After 8 hours, my lips would be all chapped....true story.
