I've been practicing PAT for the past few weeks now with both DAT Genius and DAT Bootcamp. I have yet to finish a single PAT test in 60 minutes. I usually get to around 60-65 questions when I run out of time. Reading the genius and bootcamp explanations has helped, but I feel like my progress is slowing down.

I'm already trying to move as quickly as I can, and I just feel doomed. I know that angles, cube counting and hole punching are supposed to take the least amount of time, and Im not bad at moving through those fairly fast, but I take forever on keyholes and pattern folding.

I'm still early in my practice, so I don't want to just skip through hard questions as I want to get better - but how can I get better while also imrproving speed? Is speed something that just comes as I get more practiced? Like, you know what to look for more quickly?

Any help is appreciated!!!

over time I started to just get faster at PAT and slightly better. I had a small window of time to learn it so I didn't do that well on PAT. I just tried different strategies and methods to see which worked the best for me (like skipping keyholes and moving to TFE first). Experimenting with different methods helped me a lot

hole punching and cube counting are sections where you can easily finish extremely quickly. As you get more proficient you'll find that you can get through hole punching in about 2-3 minutes and cube counting in about 3 minutes too. This leaves you with a lot more time for the trickier sections like keyholes/pattern folding.

I was in the same boat as you were in when I first started practicing PAT. Just keep with your strategies and with time youll get much better. Make sure you experiment with different approaches to the different sections (ex. envisioning a clock or a laptop with running water down its top-for angles)...look up strategies for all of them. Thats what I did and i got a 24 on PAT---its legit all practice

What ever you do DONT skip a section and return back to it..everyone i know who did that bombed their PAT

also...the best thing i did was use the generators to practice getting through 15 questions in 10 minutes, cause thats what the break down is on the exam

practice practice! If you see a problem you can't see within 10 sec, skip and move on. All the questions are worth the same amount of points!

I used to have the same issue however, after 2 weeks of doing Bootcamp generators (timed) everyday, it is as if my brain became programmed to only spend the same amount of time that Bootcamp generators allows on the practice test. Am I making sense?

Thanks everyone for taking the time to help with these suggestions! I'm focusing on learning now, and I now know speed will come as I improve.

I am legitimately twinning with you so hard, @electrax . I am currently using bootcamp, but have heard a lot of recommendations for Crack the PAT. For anyone that has used the Crack the PAT, is the royal flush edition worth it, or will any of the versions do for my prep? I have been trying to use Bootcamp generators as often as I can, but the hardest section for me (Keyholes) doesn't really have a practice generator, it's only available through the practice exams.

Hey everyone, are we allowed to hold up our sheet or pen to the screen (without touching the screen) for the angles on the PAT section?

Do DAT Genius before doing bootcamp, the PAT expalnations are lot more in-depth, and kind of put you in the mind of someone that knows what they're doing. crack the PAT is outdated.
