can't get a reference for HPSP

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
soo I'm unable to get a reference from a dentist that I shadowed/worked with on a paid basis for 3 months (in 2009). will this greatly affect my chances from getting the scholarship?

I'm a little confused... are you saying that you will be SHORT a letter? Or are you saying you may have to resort to someone who may not write a very good letter?

Only 1 of my letters for the Air Force HPSP was a dentist... the other two were professors from my undergrad.

nevermind, i got the situation sorted out. i thought it was absolutely necessary to get a work reference from your employers, but due to certain circumstances i'm not able to

My recruiter said you just need 3 references to get back to them from the list you provide. You may not have a choice of who gets back to them.

What do you guys have to do for the letters, and how many do you need? Can you use just re-use letters of recommendation that you're going to use for AADSAS, or does the HPSP application require you to have letters of recommendation specific to how you would do in the military?

I was required to use Navy forms that the letter writer would fill out and send to my recruiter.

[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]Employment References .[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]DD Form 370, front and back pages (1 from each employer for the last 3 years, including part-time employment) (If employment has been full-time military for past three years, FITREPS/EVALS may be used. Naval Academy Applicants.[FONT=Arial, sans-serif] (.[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]Note 019).
[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]Character References.[FONT=Arial, sans-serif] required if employment references are not available .

I think my recruiter wanted a minimum of 3 letters (those forms). I ended up having more than 3, because of employers and also some character references. He mentioned professors being acceptable, as well as professionals like dentists, etc.

So to answer your question, yes you can use your AADSAS letter writers, but from my experience they have to fill out a form, but you have to get letters from exployers from the last 3 years. I've attached the form I was required to use for all the references (employer and character).

wow thank you for your info...

Could someone comment if the army requires a form? If so could they post the form here like Kahr from the Navy did?
