Am I the only one with this problem?
There are just too many errors. Their notes/guide whatever is even against their practice answer explanations.😡

what problem are u talking about specifically

I also remember kaplan having some issues. It was not that I did not trust it, I just thought that it was unprofessional. Things like spelling errors or small computer glitches every so often.

Kaplan's science review covers the necessary material but is certainly riddled with errors... like saying "climactic" as opposed to "climatic." The one that ticked me off the most was the diagram for Glycolysis (p. 106) which shows a net LOSS of 6 ATP. Unbelievable. Do they even have science people review this before sending it to print? Hopefully most people applying to dental school are wise enough to catch these errors rather than simply commit them to memory.

I did find a lot of errors as well, mostly with the practice test stuff. I emailed them and confirmed it with them and they knew about it I think they are too lazy to fix it though. If your a good student you'll be able to pick out the errors and especially learn from it.

You can pretty much trust them as you get the review you will need and you can count on the DAT not being too crazy. I did fine and used a lot of kaplan stuff.

I just finished my 1st year in dschool and all I can say was that all the review questions that Kaplan offered me helped me tremendously on the DAT. Sure there are typos and some small errors, but if you know that material that they present you with, you will do great on the DAT. I also used TopScore and I felt that kaplan's materials prepared me better for the questions that the DAT threw at me.

Maybe I found a few errors in Kaplan, but I was grateful because it was not anywhere NEAR as full of errors as Barrons was! Barrons had errors on about every 4th page.

almost every type of study material you can use has errors, its good that you catch them, and overall itll just make you better.

I am sure most people do not just use kaplan as their only source of study information, therefore like you, they will catch alot of typos.

I agree. AceTheDat was filled with them to the point that I only used their service for PAT practice.

maybe I'm just too picky about their work.
btw the one that they got me angry addition to other errors was
on pg. 171 they says fungi cell walls are composed of chitin, not cellulose.
but for practice exam #17 their answer explanation says the cell wall of plants and fungi is made up of cellulose.

so now i'm thinking there might be some other wrong information that i didn't recognize it as wrong.

this is the off topic question but do we have to know exactly how many ATPs are produced from 1 glucose molecule? like total ATPs, and for each sections and stuff? because I noticed some books are slightly different in total numbers.

Yeah. Sounds like OP is sharp to catch the errors. That shows he/she really knows the materials well.

Damn... nice scores. What was your study regime for that?? 2 months 8 hr days?

FYI, I'm doing my master's thesis on fungal cell wall enzymes and can tell you that fungal cell walls can contain either/both chitin and/or cellulose depending on their environment.

You do need to know how many ATP's are made in glycolysis, the electron transport chain etc. If it were me I would know exactly where the atp are generated and know the basics of the mechanisms by which they occur. Not too specific but the basics. I would know all the products of cellular respiration etc. I had at least 10 questions on that subject alone. PM me if you have any questions.

Oh and the errors, they are everywhere, in every DAT aid. If you are smart enough to see them you are going to be okay. 👍
