Can someone explain to me why there is an increase of atrial pressure during the ventricular systole (the red circle)?

i think it has to do with either the 1) percussive force AV valve causes by closing upwards against the blood in the atria or 2) AV valve bulging slightly into the atria which compresses the blood already there

not sure which effect it is, though.
 
The Atrium Pressure is basically very similar to the Central Venous Pressure. All the key point A/C/V and x/y descent lined up. I think that's the Pressure due to Tricuspid & Mitral closing @ your red circle.
