Just heard cardiac fellowship will have a match this year...any perspective or input on how this might affect competitiveness? Or basically any thoughts at all?

Not sure how I feel about being an applicant in the first year a match is being instituted....

Probably means slightly more competition for landing an internal spot but better chance of landing a spot outside of your program. They lagged last year and ended up cancelling the match. Best of luck.

Of it's like the peds match, expect it to be a big pain in the backside for all involved. Instead of interviewing at a couple places and accepting a position, you'll have to interview with 10 others for every spot and spend many hundreds to thousands interviewing, and then white knuckling it until match day, hoping you match as you hear of contacts being signed for great PP jobs, and then finally scramble to get an apt, etc. before you move. It's awesome!

Even without a match in this day and age you will have to interview a lot and spend a lot of money and bite your nails the whole time. It's a tough match no matter what. If you want it you'll find a way to get it. Good luck.
