Just curious to know how cardiac transplantation is done? Is the sick heart removed. Where the donor heart placed?

Because for renal transplantation, kidney is placed in near iliac artery. Sick kidneys remained there.

It can be done either way. In the more common orthotopic procedure, the old heart is removed except for parts of the atria and the great vessels. In the heterotopic procedure, the old heart remains and supports the new one.
