hey guys, according to these values what do you think this patient has?
chocies: ASD, VSD, COARACTATION OF AORTA

Could someone plz tell me what the normal values are in each chamber? I remember learning that Right side is lower so its 75 o2 and left side is 98% o2. I am very confused on this questions

i appreciate your time and help

hey fatalis! You are correct.

hmm I drew it out, and I see it rising from 43 to 65 (SVC TO RA) ..so what does that tell me..that something in atrium?

Ask yourself what's a Asd, since the left has a higher pressure than the right the blood will flow from left to right and therefore the po2 increases. Now if it was a vsd, the po2 of the right atrium would equal the svc but the right ventricle would have an increase in po2

Yeah you don't need to know what the normal values are. Just trace the path of blood from the SVC and see what doesn't make sense normally.

The pressure in the SVC should normally be the same as in the right atrium. So the fact that there's a drastic difference between SVC and RA suggests that oxygenated blood is coming over from the left side (a L -> R shunt) and since the increase in O2 is in the atrium, it's an ASD.
