I have been trying to identify the best textbook of cardiovascular pathology as a resource for a forensic pathologist. Most of the sudden cardiac death texts are too limited. Hurst, while extensive (you will find it in Hurst), does not have great gross/histology images, as it is geared toward a cardiologist's needs. Advantages of Hurst include that it has been recently updated, it isn't that expensive and up to date clinical information regarding treatment modalities and diagnostics is helpful.
Renu Virmani has coauthored a cardiac path text, but it was published in 2001, so it is a bit dated. Also, I've been unable to find any information about the quality of the images or extent of the information, but I understand that this text is geared toward the pathologist. Does anyone have Virmani's text and can speak to the utility of it from an autopsy perspective? Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks!
