Are there people you know of who coach MDs? Not talking about technical coaches in surgery like Gawande advocates, not talking about moony life coaches who tell you your "passion" is to move to Costa Rica and do plein air painting. I'm talking about someone whose job is to ensure you make good career moves. Whether you want to be the chief of Aetna someday or the program director at a Harvard residency program, this person knows about fellowship opportunities, job openings, makes sure you meet your application deadlines, knows what conferences you should be attending and what kind of research you should be doing to get to the next step without sacrificing all your free time. It would be like where you outsource your forms and deadlines and details and Internet searches to your financial advisor and accountant.

They call them "Program Directors." Some of them even know what they're doing.

Doctor Kim coaches Doctors for nonclinical opportunities, such as the chief of Aetna position you mentioned.
Dr Kim just blogs. Program directors don't have their main loyalty to you. I'm talking about a paid expert.
It's called a personal assistant

In the past, Dr. Kim has offered coaching for $$. Not sure if he still does, the OP can check his website if he is interested)

There are people you can pay for this, but I doubt they help much. You're far better off relying on your school's resources.
Might be worthwhile of you're an independent applicant and are really unfamiliar with the process.
