So had our school career fair today and interviewed with five out of the seven companies present. Would have interviewed with the other two but ran out of time and interview slots. Eighth company there was the one I intern for already and already had my interview at the beginning of the month. Seemed like there were still positions to fill not only in the area but also out of the area. Feeling more optimistic than I have in months.

awesome!

Ours is next week. Got to get there right when it starts to get those interview slots.

I think I'm going to shoot for the 3 places I have rotations/are most interested in pursing careers with

So, I would love to get feedback on the smartest way to handle the upcoming couple of months.

I am pretty sure I am going to get an offer from the company I intern with currently. That offer should show up within the next two months, I have been told.

While offers from the career fair should arrive later on down the road, most notably during the months of December - March. I am concerned about accepting an offer and then possibly getting an offer that is better later on down the road....to be honest I can't see other offers being good enough to trump the company I currently intern for but it could happen I guess.

And what about the burning bridges that would occur if I took one offer and then further down the road turned it down for a better offer. I am not a fan of burning bridges. What is the "right" way of handling these situations that does not cause undue resentment or blacklisting?

Great question....would like to hear a veteran's answer on this

Keep in mind that offers come and can go, so if you do have an offer and receive a better one that you want to take, I wouldn't be in a rush to give up your first offer. Things change in corporate, and they really don't have any loyalty to you yet, so I would cover all of my bases.

I wouldn't wait until the last minute to resign an offer, but I wouldn't do it 4 months out from a start date either. This is business, they know that and also know you will continue to receive more offers as time passes. I am sure they receive quite a few offers returned to them, and they may even hire based on those expectations, and if for some reason they don't get any offers returned, they just may cut your offer. Turning down an offer from the start isn't that much better than accepting one and then rejecting it later on, either way you would be burning a bridge in a way..."oh NOW you want to work for us?". I'm not sure that offer would be the same if you had to go crawling back, so make sure you don't have to.

If it was an indepenent, handle it differently.
