so for this coming year i have been accepted to more than one dental school, but i have decided that in the long run i would appreciate medicine more, and its as simple as that-no dramatical change of life story or anything. so regarding my personal statement should i ignore this whole episode of dentistry and its extracurriculars, or should i use the whole staement as some sort of essay explaining why i chose medicine over dentistry?

That seems like a pretty monumental, life-altering choice, and I would discuss it. My PS was framed around a change in life path, and it worked out fine for me. So long as you don't use the word "dramatical" everything will work out. Just kidding. Good luck.

I'd say go with that, unless you have some bigger life changing story that would give the adcoms a better understanding of you are. I think this is a good way to show that youve spent the time exploring other fields and decided that medicine was the only way for you.

If it helps to answer the "why medicine" question, go for it! It probably gives a more concrete example than what most people wrote. Also, it will mean that you don't have to beat around the bush for your pre-dental EC's.
