I've heard time and again that its US MD then DO then IMGs in the ACGME match. I know that's the preference by most ACGME PDs. But does that mean all the MDs get matched first, then DOs, and lastly IMGs? What do people mean that IMGs get the scraps of whatever is left? Don't they all go into the match at the same time and find out at the same time?

NO its not like they give all the spots to MD students...than next DOs...than next IMGs.

What people are trying to say is that PDs MAY choose an MD over a DO over an IMG. So you are all fighting in the same race for the same spot....not 3 separate races with the number of seats dwindling in each race.

Make sense?

Some IMG do very well if they make connections during their rotation years. However, most hospitals are embarrassed to be associated with them. Also you misspelled medicine.
